   Fortunately, a tactful friend secured a commission for Handel to write music for a royal water party on the Thames on the 17th of July, It was a tremendous success, and not long after Handel was reemployed by the King, and retained as music master to their daughters by Queen Caroline.

   Sep 24,  · The Trevor Pinnock Archive/Digital recording of Water Music, is even more spectacular than his recording of the Bach Brandenburgs. This performance has a rightness to it that leads one to believe that you need'nt purchase any other Water Music ever again. I really believe in this performance more than any other issued.

   The musicians continued to perform the movements of Handel’s new work continually throughout the three hour trip to Chelsea and the return trip after dinner, and it is said that the king enjoyed the music so much that he ordered it to be played again each time it concluded.
